This might be the question I get the most from people who know they need a website but can’t quite figure out what to do first. I would love to chat with you and help lead you through the process, but if you’re not quite at the point where you’re comfortable reaching out juuuust yet, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Domain – Have you chosen a domain name? And more importantly, have you checked to see if it’s available? Your domain should match the name of your business and be appended with a common domain name extension such as .com or .ca. There may be cases where your domain is taken but don’t worry, there are billions of options still available.
  • Hosting – Once you have an address for your website, you are going to need a place for it to live. (Sort of like buying a piece of property to build your house on.) This service will store your website files (content) on a secure server so that it’s available for the public to see.
  • Platform – What framework are you going to use to build your website? WordPress, SquareSpace, Wix, Shopify…there are lots of options available and with each option comes a separate set of pros and cons. Some of the pricing plans for these platforms also include a domain AND hosting.
